How Släpis achieved more optimised store replenishment

Släpis is a leading player in Sweden within spare parts for trucks and trailers, with operations built around a central warehouse in Ängelholm and a network of stores across the country.

Släpis and its logistics journeys

Optimisation on wheels

Since its founding in the mid-1960s, Släpis has grown steadily and become a leading provider of spare parts for trucks and trailers in Sweden. The business is based on a central warehouse in Ängelholm and a number of stores (depots) located across the country.

The central warehouse is responsible for replenishing the stores. The head office was previously located in Stockholm but was later moved to Ängelholm, which improved proximity to European suppliers.

The store replenishment took a very long time, so we started looking for a system that could streamline that task. Our primary goal was to reduce time consumption for the task, but we also wanted to increase stock availability and we aimed to achieve all this with as little effort as possible to procure the products needed where, when, and in what quantity.

How IMI optimised store replenishment for Släpis

Over time, the logistics between the central warehouse and the stores became increasingly time-consuming. Planning replenishment required significant manual effort and offered limited visibility. At the same time, there was a need to improve stock availability without increasing the workload.

After evaluating several suppliers, Släpis selected a solution from IMI that could handle both the central warehouse and local stores.

The solution made it possible to work more data-driven with inventory management and purchasing planning. By entering a set of parameters, the system calculates reorder points and quantities and suggests optimal stock levels.

It also provided improved analytical capabilities. Previously, it was difficult to access detailed historical data, but Släpis can now track monthly sales over longer periods. This gave a clearer view of demand and made decision-making easier.

The result

Time well saved: efficiency gains with inventory management from IMI

The implementation has had a clear impact on store replenishment and purchasing processes. Although the functionality is advanced, the system was considered relatively easy to get started with.

Time spent on planning and handling has decreased significantly. For a buyer, this corresponds to approximately 45 minutes per day, around 15 hours per month, and about 180 hours per year that can now be used for other tasks.

Work related to external purchasing has also been streamlined, resulting in similar time savings. Overall, the solution has enabled more efficient operations, better control, and reduced manual work.
