Granada advances with automation and IMI’s WMS

From a strong 40‑Year foundation to the next gear

Granada brings scan-based accuracy and full operational control to their 3PL operation with IMI's warehouse and delivery management solution.

Since 1985, Granada has delivered pick and pack, customer service and returns handling for some of Scandinavia’s leading e-commerce companies. When it was time to modernise, IMI’s WMS was the clear choice.

When Granada decided it was time to move on from pen and paper, they went through a thorough evaluation of WMS suppliers. IMI stood out as the most future-oriented option – web-based, flexible, and willing to accommodate Granada’s specific requirements where others saw limitations.

Seven years later, Granada has not looked back. IMI’s WMS is at the centre of daily operations across pick and pack, goods reception, returns handling, carrier bookings– and now, a newly integrated Autostore solution.

The challenge

Keeping pace with modern e-commerce fulfilment

For decades, Granada managed their warehouse operations manually. It worked – but as e-commerce customers grew more demanding, the limitations of a pen and paper process became clear.

  • Picking was done manually, one order at a time
  • No scan-based verification to ensure the right item and quantity reached each customer
  • Labels had to be handled through separate external systems
  • Limited reporting made it difficult to give customers a clear picture of their orders, returns and throughput

“Before IMI’s WMS, we picked everything manually with pen and paper. It was a very manual and cumbersome process.”, Camilla Aspestrand, Logistics Manager, Granada

The solution

A web-based WMS that adapts to Granada's reality

Granada evaluated several WMS suppliers, both Norwegian and Swedish, before choosing IMI. The decision came down to two things: IMI had the most future-oriented product, and they were the most willing to adapt it to Granada’s needs.

As a 3PL operator with multiple product owners, Granada needed a system that could be configured individually for each customer.

IMI delivered exactly that.

Pick and pack operations run via tablet and scanner, with full scan-based verification
Each customer is set up individually with their own carriers, release schedules and preferences
A clear dashboard gives an instant daily overview of orders per customer, pick progress and anything on hold
Goods reception and returns are managed in the same system
Built-in multi carrier parcel management means labels are generated faster, with all goods tracked in one place

"IMI was the most future-oriented. When we had requirements, it was never a problem – unlike some competitors who saw limitations in our wishes."

Logistics Manager, Granada

The result

Seven years of reliable operations and better customer insight

Granada has been running on IMI’s WMS for seven years. In that time, the system has not had a single instance of downtime that the team can recall – a fact they mention unprompted.

  • Scan-based picking ensures the right item and quantity for every order, improving accuracy for end customers
  • Rich reporting gives Granada and their customers full visibility of orders, lines and returns
  • Built-in delivery management replaced the need for external systems like Consignor, streamlining the label process
  • The system is fully web-based, meaning the team can manage operations from anywhere

“The system is always up. We have been using IMI’s system for seven years and we can’t remember there ever being any downtime.”, Camilla Aspestrand, Logistics Manager, Granada

A seamless Autostore integration that opens new possibilities

In the fall of 2025, Granada made a significant investment by implementing an Autostore solution for storage and picking – delivered by Element Logic and integrated with IMI’s WMS. The three-way collaboration between Granada, Element Logic and IMI ran smoothly, with both physical and remote meetings to work through the setup.

Granada’s multi-customer setup required some specific adaptations, but both IMI and Element Logic handled these without issue. The integration was up and running without major problems from the start.

“It was a very smooth process. Both parties solved the adaptations we needed and we got it up and running – we are very happy with how it went.”,  Camilla Aspestrand, Logistics Manager, Granada

Why Granada recommends IMI

Granada recommends IMI without hesitation – both as a system and as a partner. The flexibility of the WMS, the reliability of the platform and the quality of the support have all lived up to expectations over seven years of collaboration. Granada and IMI also actively refer business to each other, a sign of a partnership built on genuine mutual trust.

“Our experience is that it is flexible and the service we have received from day one has been great. Our problems have been solved quickly and we are left with only good experiences.”  Kasper Andersen, CEO, Granada
