The success story with Ellos Group

How the e-commerce giant gains full control over shipping costs

Ellos Group is a leading Nordic shopping destination for home decor and fashion, with the online stores Ellos, Jotex, and Homeroom, as well as the payment brand Elpy. Ellos Group has approximately 550 employees and generates a turnover of around 3.4 billion SEK.

Ellos Group saves costs and gains new insights with IMI's cloud-based logistics solution

With 5 million shipments annually, the e-commerce giant Ellos Group needed a robust and efficient system to optimise their logistics. The choice fell on the fully automated and cloud-based solution from IMI. “They help us with cost savings and provide us with entirely new insights,” says Josefine Motten Wernerby, Logistics Controller at Ellos Group.

Ellos Group has undergone a paradigm shift in the company’s history, evolving into a pure e-commerce company that, in addition to clothes and textiles, also sells beds, sofas, and outdoor furniture. Today, they ship 5 million packages annually, across the brands Ellos, Jotex, and Homeroom.

“It has been very time-consuming for us”

Such an operation places enormous demands on logistics, with a great deal of manual effort to ensure accuracy in the numbers.

“Our business is quite staff-dependent since we handle extremely large invoice volumes in logistics. Most of the work used to be done manually, and because it’s crucial that everything is correct, this has been very time-consuming,” explains Josefine Motten Wernerby.

A few years ago, Ellos Group started looking for a more efficient solution and came into contact with IMI, a Swedish software company that uses advanced algorithms and machine learning to analyse deviations in a company’s supply chain.

Thanks to IMI’s system, companies can gain full control of their transport costs and immediately detect any “leaks,” which can ultimately lead to decreased margins.

“In recent years, we have seen significant changes in our distribution needs and, for example, have greatly increased the number of transporters we collaborate with. Combined with rising transport costs due to the global situation, it has become increasingly important for us to understand our freight net and control expenses,” says Josefine Motten Wernerby.

It could be a case of receiving invoices that deviate from the agreement, or that we ship products in a way that leads to unnecessary penalty fees. IMI detects all of this and presents it in a clear manner. We believe that IMI will significantly reduce the time we spend on such issues in the future.
